Chief (2022+)

To fit the new Indian Chief models  (Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse) you'll have a few saddlebag size options to choose from depending on how far out the bags can be positioned off your rear guard. For example if your wanting the saddlebags to fit closer to the rear guard and have a near tucked in look you'll be forced to use a smaller saddlebag such as model 101; It will fit inbetween the shock absorbers and indicator; you may need to position it a little higher to ensure there is clearance for the swingarm movement. Most Chief riders are choosing larger sleek bags such as the 510 slim, it compliments the bikes rear guard and fills in the space side on, the compromise is the back of the bag needs to clear the shock absorber and indicators which does space it out off the bikes rear guard. Check out the photos you'll see it still works and looks acceptable. If you have a backrest/sissybar this will act as a space filler which will make it look better.

If you own the new Indian Sport Chief, your going to run into issues with the Piggyback rear shocks by Fox. The gas cylinder positioned at the top gets in the way of our bracket and saddlebags, the only way to fit some decent size bags is to come up with some sort of tube frame thats hardmounted, changing the shock absorbers or switching them around. PENDING IDEA: Going down the bunny rabbit hole switching the suspension around and having it face forwards appears to work; link. Customers are finding out if this voids warranty and if it changes performance, but its not the first time Ive heard mechanics suggest this for other bikes, so its worth exploring.
