New Model 881 Protective: Lighter, Stronger, Better and Rated number 1 on MotoCAP!

Introducing our new "881 Protective" - Raw Blue Protective Denim Motorcycle Jeans with additional full lined 100% genuine terry loop knitted Dupont KEVLAR® fiber. The combination of aramid blended single layer denim plus fully lined from waist to ankle, front & back with >350gsm protective liner which passed Satra UK level 2 en13595;2002 abrasion test lasting >7 seconds and now rated 5 stars on the Motocap website. These premium protective jeans are now the same thickness and weight as the level 1, providing you comfort all season with its airmax mesh lining. They keep you warm in the colder season & nights and cool during summer.

CE level 2 armour is included at knees and hips. The knee armour (<15kn) pocket allows two heights and the hip armour (<16kn) pocket is fixed position so it doesn't float around. Its recommended to wear the hip armour, the pants have been made to accommodate the hip armour without effecting the fit when standing or sitting on the bike. The new hip armour is comfortable, taking up minimal room whilst still performing at or below <16kn which keeps up with other high end armours. The jeans fit comfortable with the armour installed in motorcycle seat position.

The original version was standard denim & >550gsm protective liner, the problem was it was on the thicker and heavier side, which was great for customers in colder climates, but not so good when off the bike walking around. To achieve the same great protection the new 881 has been made with a stronger outer material and fully lined with a robust well balanced weight, proven protective liner, with armour included at hips and knees. Motocaps December 2024 test results of 5 stars is the current model.

The pants have been made to our strict standard for performance, comfort & looks. Only the highest quality materials & stitchers are used.

Finnmoto independently tests the protective lining & denim used in its jeans. The impact abrasion test meets level 2 protection throughout the protective denim and 340gsm lined jeans for 13595-1: 2002 5.4 abrasion protection from Satra Technologies UK. (>7 seconds of abrasion = level 2) and has recently achieved 9.31 seconds from Motocap Australia, achieving the highest star rating 5/5. ref: https://motocap.com.au/product/881-protective

Latest test rating promoting "AAA" only requires material that lasts 2.5 seconds on the Cambridge machine. Australian roads are rougher and mostly chip seal its recommended you wear jeans closer to 4 seconds.

Motocap explanation: The Darmstadt impact abrasion test machine is designed to simulate garments sliding across an asphalt surface, whereas the Cambridge machine simulates rougher surfaces. The Darmstadt machine replicates the European road network that is predominantly smooth asphalt. Whilst most urban areas in larger cities and towns in Australia and New Zealand do have asphalt surfaces, almost all rural roads are chip seal. Chip seal roads are four and a half times more abrasive than asphalt. Recent on-road trials in Australia and New Zealand have confirmed that testing on the Cambridge machine accurately simulates sliding on chip seal road surfaces. These trials have validated the Cambridge impact abrasion test as the more appropriate method for Australian and New Zealand motorcycle clothing, and addresses the most challenging road surface clothing might encounter, as well as less abrasive city streets; hence why it is used by MotoCAP. ref https://www.motocap.com.au/frequently-asked-questions

The actual measurements listed in the size chart below are in (INCH'S), recommended to use dress tape measure.

'Jean size' refers to the label size; true Australian jean size.
You can cross reference by measuring the circumference of your bodies waist line, match it upto 'recommended waist circumference'.
To triple check you can grab your existing good fitting jeans, lay them flat & measure across top waist as in picture below.

The sizing guide is our average leg cut / 32inch (fits approx height 170cm to 185m).
Short leg is 2inch shorter / 30inch (<170cm).
Long leg is 2inch longer / 34inch. (>185cm)

When comparing the inner leg its important you sit on the bike and gauge the length needed to cover ankle. Take note of the difference.
Measure from crotch seam, follow down to the ankle seam and apply the difference.

17inch across the top waist will be a size 34. Inner leg 32inch will be average leg.

If you normally wear a standard size 34 in Australia, you will fit in our size 34.
Measuring your bodies belt line it should measure 36inch waist circumference.
To cross reference lay your normal jeans flat, measure cross the waist side to side equals 17inch.
Remember our jeans have Kevlar, your normal 34 jeans might measure a little less and have more stretch.

USA: If you wear a size 34 in USA clothing, then a chance you'll be wearing our size 36 (use the circumference and across waist method).

To ensure you get the perfect fit the first time you'll receive an email from us shortly after you purchase to check your measurements.
(Your welcome to email through your measurements before purchasing to help with size selection).

    881 blue kevlar jeans

Posted by peter woolford on 1st Nov 2025

Having seen MotoCAP stand at Moto GP testing jeans i decided i needed an upgrade. Their website rated these safest so ordered. What a difference in protection versus my old kevlar jeans that only protect certain points. Guidelines for measurement mean they fit perfectly as well as feel so much safer riding.

    The new 881s are awesome

Posted by David Haynes on 31st Oct 2025

Great pair of jeans. By far the best on the market with Motocap giving them not only 5 stars but rating them as the safest motorcycle pants they've tested even safer than the safest leather pants. Despite the amazing safety rating they look and feel like regular denim. Was very impressed that they are available in a short leg. As always Matt was amazing to deal with, going g above and beyond to ensure I ordered the correct size to ensure I didnt have to exchange them. The size guide provided on the website is great but I sit between 2 sizes taking a 32 in some brands and 34 in others. A quick phone call with Matt ensured a perfect fit. He got me to supply a few extra measurements such as thigh circumference and based on the additional information he selected the size I needed. You just don't get service like that from any other supplier. What I love about Matt is he is continually trying to improve his products which is why they are the best. Im a short arse so even the short leg which measures 30 inch inseam is a tad long for me. I rang Matt to thank him and to tell him the jeans were a perfect fit but that as expected were a little long in the leg and without missing a beat Matt suggested he might introduce a 28 inch leg. Always iinervating and always striving to improve his products, whether it's saddlebags or gear.

Great purchasing experience and great product. There were many questions about measurements, my size and how I wear my pants. Was extremely satisfied with the finished product, they fit perfect. Note that these are longer in the belt line to crotch line area than any American jean I have tried on in the last 10 years and I count that as a plus and so do my boys. These are the safest and most comfortable pair of jeans I own. (Check out Motocap for testing results.) These are now my go to riding pants of any type. Probably too heavy for the summer in the area where I ride, but great for the rest of the year. They are great at blocking the wind, only felt wind around the too of my boot. I would love to see a Ghost Level 2 upgrade option; these come with level 2 knees and hip armor but nothing beats Ghost for comfort. I am now looking at the 882 for summer and breathability. Thanks to the team for taking some pride in what they do. They are selling a product that is the safest pair of jeans on the market, and actually giving a damn if they fit! I do recommend and I will buy from them again.

    Absolutely perfect

Posted by Jason - Canada on 21st Jul 2025

I received the jeans this morning. They are absolutely perfect. The fit is like they were custom made for me - even the knee pads which on other jeans I have found don't sit in the right spot are exactly where I would want them to be. Thanks again!

    Finn Moto 881 Motorcycle Jeans

Posted by Alistair on 21st May 2025

A good fit (after taking their advice). Slightly high waisted which is great, no gaping at rear. You know you are wearing these, a heavy duty bit of kit on the warm side. The MotoCap rating says it all, excellent slide protection which the maker should boast louder about in my opinion. A very good product. A happy customer!

Excellent fit and very comfortable even at over 30 degrees. Nice to know they offer greater protection than most leathers.
