Introducing the 881 Slim Protective – Black Protective Denim Motorcycle Jeans
Built with an aramid-blended single layer denim and fully lined front and back from waist to ankle with >340gsm 100% genuine terry loop knitted DuPont™ KEVLAR® fibre, the 881 Slim delivers proven protection. It uses the exact same construction and materials as the original 881 that achieved a 5-star MotoCAP rating. Tested to Satra UK EN13595:2002 Level 2 (>7 seconds abrasion), these jeans offer top-tier safety in a balanced, all-season weight.
Slim / Tapered Fit
Designed for slim to average build riders wanting a clean, tapered look, this cut delivers a neater fit from seat and upper thigh through to the ankle—ideal with short ankle boots where excess width isn’t wanted.
It retains our signature rise and seat shape for all-day comfort on and off the bike, now refined for a closer, more tailored feel without restriction. The result is a streamlined fit that looks like a normal pair of jeans, not loose or baggy.
For average build riders who prefer a tidier fit, this model sits closer through the leg while still allowing movement when riding. The narrower ankle opening provides a clean finish over short boots or can be tucked into taller boots if needed.
As a new addition, this fit will continue to be refined with real-world rider feedback.
For average, athletic, and larger build riders—or those wanting to wear denim over taller boots—the original 881 offers a roomier straight fit better suited to those needs.
| Body Shape | Description | Recommended Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Slim | Lean waist, hips, and thighs | 881 Slim |
| Average | Balanced proportions | 881 Slim (neater) / 881 Original (roomier) |
| Athletic | Larger thighs and seat | 881 Original |
| Large | Fuller waist, hips, and thighs | 881 Original |
The Airmax mesh lining enhances comfort by minimising skin shearing and, combined with the denim and aramid fibre construction, provides excellent breathability. This helps regulate temperature—keeping you warm in colder conditions and cool during summer, delivering greater comfort on longer rides.
Many riders comment on how breathable they feel in real conditions:
“30°C in QLD, feels like 40°C – surprisingly breathable and comfortable on fast roads.”
“Romania 40°C days – the Kevlar lining acted like insulation while allowing airflow.”
“SA Ambulance tour, 43°C – performed brilliantly, very comfortable even in humidity.”
CE Level 2 armour is included at the knees and hips. The knee armour pocket offers dual height adjustment, while the hip armour is fixed in position for stability. The cut is designed to accommodate the armour without affecting seat comfort, allowing most riders to choose their normal size.
Compared to the previous heavier 500gsm-lined version, this updated construction achieves the same high level of protection with a more balanced weight—improving comfort both on and off the bike.
The pants are built to our strict standards for performance, comfort, and appearance, using only high-quality materials and construction throughout.

Finnmoto independently tests the protective lining & denim used in its jeans. The impact abrasion test meets level 2 protection throughout the protective denim and 340gsm lined jeans for 13595-1: 2002 5.4 abrasion protection from Satra Technologies UK. (>7 seconds of abrasion = level 2) and has recently achieved 9.31 seconds from Motocap Australia, achieving the highest star rating 5/5. ref: https://motocap.com.au/product/881-protective
Latest test rating promoting "AAA" only requires material that lasts 2.5 seconds on the Cambridge machine. Australian roads are rougher and mostly chip seal its recommended you wear jeans closer to 4 seconds.
Motocap explanation: The Darmstadt impact abrasion test machine is designed to simulate garments sliding across an asphalt surface, whereas the Cambridge machine simulates rougher surfaces. The Darmstadt machine replicates the European road network that is predominantly smooth asphalt. Whilst most urban areas in larger cities and towns in Australia and New Zealand do have asphalt surfaces, almost all rural roads are chip seal. Chip seal roads are four and a half times more abrasive than asphalt. Recent on-road trials in Australia and New Zealand have confirmed that testing on the Cambridge machine accurately simulates sliding on chip seal road surfaces. These trials have validated the Cambridge impact abrasion test as the more appropriate method for Australian and New Zealand motorcycle clothing, and addresses the most challenging road surface clothing might encounter, as well as less abrasive city streets; hence why it is used by MotoCAP. ref https://www.motocap.com.au/frequently-asked-questions

The actual measurements listed in the size chart below are in (INCH'S), recommended to use dress tape measure.
'Jean size' refers to the label size; true Australian jean size.
You can cross reference by measuring the circumference of your bodies waist line, match it upto 'recommended waist circumference'.
To triple check you can grab your existing good fitting jeans, lay them flat & measure across top waist as in picture below.
The sizing guide is our average leg cut / 32inch (fits approx height 170cm to 185m).
Short leg is 2inch shorter / 30inch (<170cm).
Long leg is 2inch longer / 34inch. (>185cm)
When comparing the inner leg its important you sit on the bike and gauge the length needed to cover ankle. Take note of the difference.
Measure from crotch seam, follow down to the ankle seam and apply the difference.
