Hard mounting means bolting the bags to metal saddlebag supporting brackets that either have supporting tabs to bolt into or tube with mounting holes at each end. The bag and bracket will bolt through the bikes rear guard. Universal saddlebag brackets will allow you to position the bags exactly where you want and give you a much more solid mount with a clean look, the downside is usually you need to sort out different mounting hardware and spacing to get it on good and when it comes to taking the bags on and off, its a little bit of juggle, then reloctiting the bolts etc.

High Quality Saddlebags
These are really good quality, they look good, they're rigid which means no concerns about them hitting the rear wheel, they have a large capacity (I can fit 2 2litre soft drink bottles and a raincoat in each bag, possibly more), and the fact they zip off makes them really convenient. I take them on my bike to work, zip them off, and then when I do my shopping after work I use them as shopping bags, the built-in carry handles make this particularly easy. The only thing I had to do to install them was add 2 small slits to the middle strap as the latches on my bikes seat were exactly in the way, but once I did that they worked perfectly

Excellent build quality. Very thick heavy set tek leather. Only had it in the bike a week but they are what you pay for. Word of advise. Measure measure measure. I thought they would be big enough. When you look at them on the bike and try to put things in it. Just not enough
